WHO A(re) We?
WHOA First Meals - first for babies, then for families! Founded in 2018, we started off with first meals for babies in the form of home-made frozen porridge in 3 different flavours. These meals are WHOA: Wholesome Healthy, Halal, Home-made Organic (mostly) Artificial seasoning, salt and sugar free As our own little one grows beyond toddlerhood, so do we as we go into our third year of business. In 2021, we officially registered the business WHOA FIRST MEALS in order to bring in MasyiMee's Mi Tarik - instant pulled noodles made with only real food ingredients; the first of its kind in Singapore! That's not all - we plan to bring in more food products that cater to the whole family, that meet a slightly different WHOA criteria: Wholesome Healthy, Halal, Hearty Only real food ingredients Artificial seasoning, colouring, flavouring free WHOA First Meals - first for babies, then for families!

WHOA, Why?

Our Story

My passion for real food started from a 'frivolous' desire; as a soon-to-be bride in 2012 I wanted to look good at my wedding (held in December 2013), and to do so I wanted to get rid of my flabby tummy. Many would not call me fat then, or even now, but with a petite frame, I felt self-conscious of even the slightest flab on my waist. In the course of researching the best way to lose fat / inches off my waist, I stumbled upon the Paleo diet. It's not really a diet specifically just to lose weight, but more of a lifestyle diet, i.e, a diet that one adopts for life (think of how vegetarians or vegans eat the way they do for a good part of their lives). Losing weight was just ONE of the many positive outcomes from choosing a Paleo diet, according to those who adopted it and promoted it. The other more significant outcomes would be the healing from chronic conditions, more energy, etc. While I could not totally give up my grains (rice, bread and noodles is life for me), the basic principle underlying the Paleo diet - that is, choosing real food and avoiding anything synthetic - is something that makes so much sense to me, and is what I currently strive to do when choosing food to feed myself and my family. Those close to me, though, would know that instant noodles are my 'vice'. Quick, hot and tasty meals - what's not to love? However, as we all know, instant noodles are full of synthetic ingredients - additives, stabilisers, MSG, etc. I could not totally shake off the guilt as I ate them, and I had to consciously 'space out' my instant noodle consumption. When I became a mother, I would also only cook and consume them out of sight from my little one, as I did not want to even introduce such junk food to him. As our little one grew, so did the variety in his meals. He 'graduated' from eating baby porridge (the same one that I cooked, froze and sold via Instagram @whoa.first.meals). I found and introduced to him plain instant noodles (sans spice / seasoning) which has only 3 basic ingredients - wheat flour, palm oil and salt. He loves them, so whenever we had leftover soup or broth in the fridge, I would cook soup noodles for breakfast. It then occurred to me - wouldn't it be wonderful to have healthier instant noodles which everyone in the family could enjoy, any time the craving strikes, or any time a quick meal is needed? Thus when I found a healthier alternative in MasyiMee's Mi Tarik products that are made with only real food ingredients, I couldn't wait to try them - and at the same time, I thought, why not share them with others who have previously entrusted me to feed their babies? Why not give other mommies (daddies too, but my customer base has been mommies) a healthier alternative to feed themselves and their children (past the toddler age) whenever a quick meal is needed? This is why I am taking this step to expand WHOA First Meals' offering, beyond home-made baby porridge. We hope to bring in more truly healthier-alternative products, but for now, do support us by purchasing and spreading the word about MasyiMee's Mi Tarik!
